Put numbers starting from 1 thru 235 in the next column. (You can use "Fill" or drag option for this) Say your first cell is B1 (number 1)
Then type
="design1place"&B1&".jpg"
Copy it down

Using the Fill function, it cannot repeat the text with a number. You will have to use two columns.
It seems like you can use a header in the first col.,
"Design 1" If you need or want every row to contain that, you can copy and paste it to all the rows, or, place the cursor on the header, "Design 1", highlight all the desired rows in the col. Click on "Edit", "Fill", "Down".
In the second col., The header will be "Place".
You shouldn't need "Place" to appear in every row. The header indicates that.
This can be done in the same way, but then you will need a third col. for the numbers.
Under "Place", in the next row, Enter 1, down and enter 2, down and enter 3.
Now, place the cursor on number 1, highlight all the desired rows.
Click on "Edit". Move to "Fill". A menu pops up, choose "Series".
From the menu box, Choose "Columns",
in type, choose "Linear",
Step value, 1,
Stop value 235,
then OK.

You will have to use macros on something like that, and it's been ages since I've had to use macros with Excel, so can't give you step by step directions. Just google Excel macros and read up on it. It's a bit complicated, though.
Sorry I couldn't be of more help.
