Download the installation program to your hard drive. Then right click it and choose "Run as Administrator." That should do the trick.

Ah yes the windows security firewall. Everyone loves this problem. I even use to have this problem on a PC with Windows XP Home edition. Now, i don't have vista, BUT the process to allow you to use Yahoo! should be similar to what you do for an XP machine.
You need to do the following:
-Click the start button
- Go into the control panel
- Click the security center icon
- Click the Windows firewall
- Click the exceptions tab
- Click Add Program
- Find the Yahoo Program and add to the exceptions list
That should help!

You'll have to save it to get it to run properly. Don't run it as an administrator, you don't have to. It's just when you install it, your screen will darken up (make sure everything is minimized) and you'll see a box that will tell you to confirm that you want the target executable to run. Click yes and go through the steps. I've only run across 1 item so far that had to be run in admin mode and what was Ventrilo.

Yahoo messenger does work with Vista but you have to make sure you have the latest version, v8.1. but sign up for notification when Yahoo messenger for Vista goes live, that should solve the problems then.
Messenger 8.1 does work as I have it installed on my laptop which uses Vista.
