I currently have a cell phone w/ verizon wireless, but I'm looking into buying a new phone and adding it to my plan in place of the phone that I have now. 1) Can I add the phone myself even though my mom is the primary person on the account? 2) Will it cost me anything to add it?

Thanks!

You cannot do anything yourself on the family plan. If your mom is the primary account holder, she must perform all transactions on the phone if you're going to a Verizon store.

However, you can do it yourself if you buy the phone online. You'll just need all of your mother's account information handy.

If you're just upgrading phones (that is, your new phone will have your old number), it won't cost anything more beyond the cost of the phone. The only way it will cost more is if you are adding a new line.

A - If your mom is the contract holder then she will have to add it.
B - Usually the store you buy the phone from doesn't charge anything extra to upgrade you - as long as you're eligible for the upgrade. If not, they jack the price of the phones up. So your only expense should be the cost of the phone.

you r mother is the account holder and must do this unless she adds you to the acct.
in addition, adding a phone to the line is about $9.99 a month. But you have to change the plan and the contract will be exteneded by one year from the day of the change.
So, there's administrative items attached to the transaction. Also the $9.99 is actually $18.99 a month the first month.
Vz prorates and make you pay one month in advance.
Also your mother's plan will be changed and she will pay a double charge for the first month.

1) you cant make any changes to the account unless you are added as a full access user your mom will have to call verizon to have you added on
2) If you are adding an additional line it will be 9.99 a month and you will also be charged for a partial month which can be up to 9.99 but if you are upgrading your line then all you have to pay is the 1 or 2 yr upgrade price

Yes you can add the phone yourself and no you don't have to pay anything for it... unless you want them to transfer your contacts from your old phone to your new phone then you will have to pay them a $10 fee. (they might have changed the price)

i think she would have to add it , but i don't think it costs extra on a family plan. you should just check with them and ask.
