"Blinded by the light, revved up like a deuce, another runner in the night."

I went with "wrapped up like a douche". I still sing it that way when I am in the car with my husband because he gets so irritated. Is that wrong?

Springsteen had different wording in that verse.

He used "cut loose like a deuce" instead of "revved up like a deuce."

I know that Springsteen wrote it and originally recorded it, but the verse didn't really get totally screwed up until it was changed to "revved up like a deuce".

Revved up like a deuce.

Meaning duel carburetor. He's talking about an old car. Only older people who were around then know about those days. Are we old?

Manfred Mann's band covered it, they didn't write it. Bruce Springsteen is the writer. And YES, when they sing it, it sounds like 'wrapped up like a douche', which makes no sense.
But then, not much of that song makes sense so sing away, babe!

Not wrong!! If you can't irritate your spouse, who can you irritate???

And I am with Comet Girl - I always sang it that way too!!

I guess that'll teach 'em to use the word deuce in a song!!

The only reason I listen to that song is so that I can mess up that verse! If he's irritated, he takes his music too seriously.

Bruce Springstein wrote that song!

I think it's funny and your husband should lighten up! LOL! Misunderstood lyrics are pretty humorous.
