Yes the Rangers and the flyers both made a great job in making themselves stronger. As a Rangers fan I am very happy to get the players we got. The Blackhawks drafted Patrick Kane and made some good aquistions also. The Sabers hurt themselves by letting such talent get away and didin't do that much to come back to a dominate eastern team. It will be hard for them this year. The coyotes did nothing also the kings. The western teams will be the same as usually. It is almost here so we'll see just how well teams have done to try to win the cup. I look at the last few champions and see where they rated on salary as a team and well a few of them have been on the bottom half so just cause you sign markee players doesn't mean champions anymore. Still Go Rangers win the cup...

Philly and the NYR did pretty well for themselves. The Blackhawks drafting Pat Kane is worth a mention as far as a team going the right way, too. As far as I could tell, Phoenix and LA did virtually nothing whatsoever to improve, which was kinda sad considering how godawful they were last season. Then of course there's the Sabres. Brilliant management let the team's co-captains walk away, but at least they seem to have finally learned their lesson and have signed other key players to long-term deals and have canned their policy of not negotiating during the season.

I don't feel like reading every answer, so let me just say now, that anyone that says the bruins did well is crazy. I know that you are a bruins fan by your name, and I am too, but they did NOTHING this offseason. They seem to think that bringing in Manny Fernandez is going to win the public over, but that actually frustrates me more. I think they should have stayed with Thomas for the few years needed to develop Tuuka Rask, and spend the money where it is really needed in getting a GOOD goal scorer. Plus, they could use a veteran D man, but that isn't a priority.

As for a team that did good, I have to say the Oilers. They got alot of good players. They have Pitkanen, and Suray. Plus they picked up some good forwards, and I think Jussi will play good for them in net.

Obviously Buffalo had a terrible offseason, but they had their work cut out for them with all of their stars contracts ending, and there was no way they were going to be able to afford all of them, maybe not even two of them. They just did what they could, but that sucks for them.

Anyone who was not dumb enough to overpay for the mediocre free agent market this summer is a winner. Briere, Drury, Gomez, Smyth, Penner, Schnieder, Bertuzzi... all these guys were great pickups, but they all got way more money than they deserved. These teams had better hope the salary cap keeps going up, or they are screwed in a couple of years.
