It's definitely a age thrill thing - I loved roller coasters - as a young adult I had to go on one with my son - because of the height requirement - it proved to be my last - I got off - threw up, had the worse headache in the world and had to sit down for the entire time at Cedar Pointe (Ohio) from that moment on I knew it was for younger people only - I love to see the joy on the faces of people getting off - and to hear the screams - Now i have become a little scared because of people getting hurt and roller coasters becoming stuck in mid air!

I think the old Grandma from the 1989 movie "Parenthood" said it best:
"You know, when I was nineteen, Grandpa took me on a roller coaster. Up, down, up, down. Oh, what a ride! I always wanted to go again. You know, it was just so interesting to me that a ride could make me so frightened, so scared, so sick, so excited, and so thrilled all together! Some didn't like it. They went on the merry-go-round. That just goes around. Nothing. I like the roller coaster. You get more out of it."
I think there's a life lesson there, too. :)

You rise to the top of the hill only to realize the drop is much steeper than you thought. You breathing comes in short heavy breaths, and your stomach begins to turn. The ride stops and it feels like an eternity and then........you fall faster and faster. You scream in excitement and fear. You twist and turn left right upside down. Your stomach is still on top of the hill, and yet you hope this thrill will never end. The bars raise, and you realize it's over only to be greeted by someone saying "Lets get back in line!"
Thats why people love roller coasters.

Epinephrine is the hormone that's released from the adrenal glands when danger, excitement, and other high stress conditions are sensed. It prepares the body for action, hence its nickname as the "fight or flight" hormone. So, when you're on a roller coaster your body becomes excited, giving you an "adrenaline rush" which is really just your epinephine being kicked into place.

I enjoy them for that wild, out of control, adventurous thrill.
The speed, the inversions, the scenery during it, etc.
I love all rollercoasters... I don't disriminate... steel, wooden, inverted, 4d, etc.
Hearing the clicks of the chain lift going up the big hill is one of the most nostalgic memories for me. It brings a smile instantly on my face.
