I need to upload a film I've made on to youtube or equivalent site in order to get a job,but the quicktime movie is too large at 1.7 GB although it meets the length criteria at 8 & 1/2 minutes. It defeats the object to chop it up so how can I reduce it ? Would changing the file format be better? Or are there sites where I could upload it as it is ?

Thanks :)

You need some good compression software that can convert formats. Roxio do "Copy and Convert" for less than £20 ($40). You can convert your Quick time to any other format, even G3 for mobiles. It is available from Amazon or you can get it direct from Roxio.

I think it is more than likely you will have to change to a different format and compress it. Making the quality/resolution worse should decrease the file size also. 1.7 GB is huge for any upload. I doubt there are any website where you could upload a file that big.

http://www.transferbigfiles.com/Default.aspx

or

megaupload.com

or

rapidshare.com

all free, transfer bigfiles is the newest, but not the fastest, only matters if u have cable, and even if you do its still allgood,

if u have regular dsl its about a 2 hr upload and a 1 hour download

What resolution is that video? You should resize it to a new file and no larger than 640x480 resolution.
