Did any of you even bother to read the article? The answer to your question is in the very first sentence:

"Natural weather variations have offset the effects of global warming for the past couple of years and will continue to keep temperatures flat through 2008, a study released Thursday said.

But global warming will begin in earnest in 2009, and a couple of the years between 2009 and 2014 will eclipse 1998, the warmest year on record to date, in the heat stakes, British meteorologists said".

Trying using a reputable source. I looked up the article that they claimed to used for this story. Their headline is completely false and nothing in the article says anything like what they are saying. Here is the abstract from the study:

"Previous climate model projections of climate change accounted for external forcing from natural and anthropogenic sources but did not attempt to predict internally generated natural variability. We present a new modeling system that predicts both internal variability and externally forced changes and hence forecasts surface temperature with substantially improved skill throughout a decade, both globally and in many regions. Our system predicts that internal variability will partially offset the anthropogenic global warming signal for the next few years. However, climate will continue to warm, with at least half of the years after 2009 predicted to exceed the warmest year currently on record. "

This is from the journal Science.

Breitbart lies.

I don't think too many people in Brooklyn, where a tornado touched down for the first time in recorded history, think the pause button has been hit.

I read it as catching a temporary, lucky break, due to natural weather variations... only localized in some cases. I hope you are not trying to offer this one article to deny global climate change. If you're interested, here's some other articles I've glanced at recently:

"It is no secret that industry-connected appointees within the White House have worked actively to distort the findings of federal climate scientists, playing down the threat of climate change."
