It appears as though they think, if you are smart, and educated, and want to protect the poor working class, uneducated people, you will be a Democrat. Aren't the people who are able to afford a good higher education usually wealthy, the label they put on the Republicans? It doesn't appear to make logical sense to me.

Of course, their is this one liberal, his signature is lib/con=0. Mathmatically speakinf, since division by zero is an undetermined number, the only way for that equation to be true is if lib=0.

If libs are so much smarter than us conservatives, you would think he would realize that.

Of the top 10 most wealthy politicians in the US, 6 or 7 of them are Democrats. That's a fact. Not that it should be held against them, it just is what it is, and your labels are mistaken. Republicans come from a whole range of economic circumstances just as Democrats do.

I am not intellectually superior. There are plenty of people smarter than I, and some of them are even Democrats, God only knows why.

When Democrats stop electing Presidents who think hanging condoms as ornaments on Christmas trees is a good idea. Support those that have sexual relations with a young interns after just signing a sexual harassment policy into law that said it is wrong to do so is a proper thing to do. Praise those who purger themselves, when faced with a lawsuit from an ordinary citizen. That keep sending a person to the Senate in perpatuity after leaving the scene of what was likely a drunk driving accident that left a young girl dead. When that ends, maybe conservatives will feel less

If you read carefully, you will see I said "most" who afford a good higher education, not "all". I left the possibility open that some Democrats (and Republicans) actually work and pay for their own education as I did.

Jim B. I believe in Evolutionary theory, the Big bang Theory, none of which interferes with my belief in God as the creator.

Yes, there is Global Warming, but it is mostly a natural part of a cycle that has recurred many times over the history of the planet.

Finally, Yes, I did vote for George W Bush, both times, because the alternative was not as good, both times.

Statistically, the figures on education are very close, averaging about 50/50. More PhD's tend to be liberal, but graduate and post graduate it's about even with a slight edge to conservatives who tend to remain in business rather than move to academia. 'No college' tends to be a little higher for 'liberals'. So it tends to even out in my mind. Still, the statistical exercise, the 'education = smart' argument holds little water for me. You don't have to have a college education to recognize truth from cow manure. What these statistics don't take into account is 'street' knowledge or the education that comes from life experience.

I think the problem you're facing is that liberals tend to want to believe that they're more intelligent. It's an ego thing. I believe, and this is just my amateur psychology at work here, that they feel it bolsters their argument when at some level they know that that argument is weak. While it may be full of 'facts', it's what you do with those facts to come to your conclusion where they often fall down.

Still good question...but you're going to really tick 'em off. They hug that belief like a life preserver.

Uh, people who are able to get a good higher education are not necessarily wealthy. I'm in college now, and I sure as hell am not wealthy. Most people I know at school are busting their butts to pay their tuition as well as their bills (if they're living on their own). They are far far far from being wealthy, yet they're managing to afford a higher education anyway.

Although your stereotype of only the wealthy can get a good education is not far from coming true. Since Bush came into office, every year the cost of education has increased drastically, yet it's getting harder for people to get loans and other financial aid, so college students are struggling more than ever under Bush's reign.

As for liberals assuming their intellectually superior, I know of quite a few conservatives who view themselves the same way. So much for stereotyping...

As a matter of fact its assumed by many that if you are rich, corporate oriented, wish to impose your moral and religious standards on the rest of the nation you are Republican.
Most people change during their lives, being more liberal when they are young, and more conservative as they get older and have more to lose. Most of the Republican candidates are having problems with this in terms of abortion, fiscal policies, gay marriage, etc.
Both my daughters went to college, they worked their way through with jobs and a little help from mom and dad, but mostly on their own. It took more than four years, but they both graduated, that's how people who aren't rich do it.
They are both Democrats as are we. My husbands a truck driver, we are real people, we know the value of an education.
Re think your smug attitudes, lots of normal people are Democrats who work hard, but aren't afraid to reach out a hand when needed.
I have frequently read that Bush had a higher GPA than other candidates, if that was the result of his education, Yale should reevaluate its admissions policy and get a new staff.
He embarrasses them.

Based upon your logic : Republicans usually are more wealthy than Democrats, Wealthy people can get a better education, a better education means that you'll be intellectually superior.

Sounds like your the one who is assuming Republicans are intellectually superior because they are wealthier.

First, "good higher education" is not correct grammar. Second, "you would think he would realize" without a formal masculine pronoun is also incorrect grammar. So I assume you didn't have a "good higher education" so that must make you a Democrat.

Your entire logic appears to be "Why do liberals assume they are intellectually superior, because logically conservatives are intellectually superior?"

As I'm independant, I think conservatives and liberals are both arrogant and neither are intellectually superior.
So what point were you trying to make?

There is one idiot who can't do math. I am sure there are a couple of Republican trolls who can't do math either--I just ignore them.

The liberals I know ARE intellectually superior as compared to the cons that I know. And they are not all Democrat. Have you noticed the trend toward a non affiliation with either political party? I think you are a little out of touch, since most of the people I know (myself included) have had to put themselves through college, as opposed to the wealthy cons.

But, thanks for asking.

I think for one reason and only one reason. They often attract a lot of professors and other in academia. But, the way I see it is that those academics are sitting in their ivory tower pontificating about how to solve the world's problems and have very little in the way of practical solutions. I got my PhD in psychology, so I'm speaking from first hand experience talking to professors about their political opinions. They're solutions hardly ever make real world sense.

Economic liberals are actually for the lazy, the uneducated and the leaches of the world. Not only that, but in almost every proposal we see from a dem, they have a desire to change hard working people into people who are on the dole. That just means more votes for them. The intellectual thing to do is kick the dem party to the curb and make the two major parties the Libertarians and the Republicans.

because they are so close-minded....they think they are the only people that matter, therefore, if you are the only people that exist in your weird little head, you think you are superior. See, Liberals have no common sense. They are blind to true knowledge!
Sad really They give all these "solutions" to our country's problems without using logic to think it through and realize its impossible.....Thats why conservatives are left to have to try and explain to them that you can just say something and it happen...you have to take action.

You take one user to stereotype the rest of a group.
Also, one does not need to be wealthy to get a college education. I'm sure you've heard of federal loans and grants. (Of course, some conservatives want to make sure only the very wealthy can earn higher eduaction by cutting funding.)

Next.
