In past I tried patchs, gums, but I end up lighting up. Any suggestions?

The only way to quit smoking is to become properly motivated. Sorry, but I have no advice on how to do that. I tried many times to quit smoking myself before it finally took. If you are not really ready to quit, you will not be able to quit no matter what you do. If you are ready to quit, I think any method will work.

My mom had tried several times (she used gum, patches, you name it) without any success. This last time she tried will power and Chantex. So far she has been very successful and has gone 7 months without a cigarette. My aunt has also tried Chantex and had great success. She has been smoke free for about 5 months. Maybe you could try that???? You will need a prescription to get it though.

Greetings. Congrats on wanting to quit I personally used Chantix (over 7 months) and swear by it. I also started a yahoo group for people trying to quit with extensive files, links, news etc. attached that can answer ANY question you might have about smoking and quitting. Acurately. Feel free to have a look and Take Care.....................R

learn to retrain your subconcious...
and your habits~
been smoke free for almost a year now and i read some self improvement motivational book that wasn't about smoking and it helped me see the habit and how to break it!
it was hard at first but like everything it takes work!
here is what i did. some of it is silly but it worked!
and it's FREE!

1. start changing your thought pattern tell youself at any
chance givin I live a healthy smokefree lifestyle. I enjoy the clean air i breath. you want to keep these in the positive you don't want to say I quit smoking even thought that's good you are using a negitive word! so stop using them (this was the hardest part i think due to really watching my thoughts and what i spoke! starts at the thoughts) so knock out those negitive voices you konw the onse:
( i'll never stop smoking , i can't do this, this is too hard)
Yes you can stop smoking people do it every day it is hard so is life!

While you do this your allow to smoke i mean for real i'm not going to tell you to stop you will tell yourself when your ready!

2. change the habit! - retrain your brain!
every time you light up put the smoke down or out (at least for a moment!)_ and jump clap your hands do something active dance anything silly! Why you do this is so you change up the pattern you just told your subconcionse that your still liveing even thought your not smoking at that moment!
you will have to do this for a while and hopefull you can start to cut back this way again i'm not going to tell you stop but when you do this activity ask yourself do i really want this after all that clapping.. (mine was yes for a while)

3. just do this over and over untill you think you can mentally figure yourself out to change up your habits!
it is not easy! but bottom line over anything you have to really want to quit for yourself not for a loved one you must want to quit fully mind heart and soul!

dont be hard on yourself I cheat once in awhile i will be honest there! but i haven't had a pack of smokes in almost ayear

another great tip is to stay away from people who smoke and places your are more inclinded to smoke.. like a bar! at least untill you think you can handle it..

I am in the same boat; so, I gonna go see my doctor. Everyone is different when trying to quit.
I have been told that exercise is good, but it's like 100 degrees outside right now.

Just stop buying them, don't give in to temptation and you will get through it.

Oh and watch your snacking during the first month, anytime you crave a cig get a glass of water and think about something else.

Best of Luck to you

Imbibe large quantities of Scotch and pass out for three days. When and if you awake the craving will be reduced considerably.

You know, this might work. Whenever you want to smoke, just chew the cigarette and swallow it down. You will realize just how bad it taste that you'll wonder how the heck did you smoke in the first place.
