I have Windows XP! I have AVG 7.5 Antivirus Free Edition and AVG Antivirus installed. Are these good, effective, free programs, or is there something better you can recommend. I'm also not sure if any of these programs have Firewall protection or not, which I would like to have. Is Kaspersky any better? Any help would be truly appreciated. Thanks in advance! Have a real nice day!

hi!!!
Antivirus stated in your question is one of the best Antivirus but i just suggest you that you should keep only one antivirus other than installing multiple antiviruses.....
AVG is a good antivirus and the things wants you to be in in it are all ...... present in that antivirus. So nothing to worry....
bye.

The free AVG products do not include a firewall. Below are some links to various free security products. If you choose not to download a separate firewall, at least turn on the built in one through IE.

Kaspersky is my only choice in Anti virus Softwares. High virus detection without jeopardize your system's performance. Their hourly auto updates and multi-file(zip/arj/rar/cab/lha... support blocks almost all kinds of malicious programs. Besides,it's the best/or only choice for MS Windows Vista platform. As a sweet reminder, you can update this software to the newest 7.0 version without any cost. Only con of this program is the price but its worth it! It also has a great firewall.

-If you want something great and free for an anti virus program get Avira AntiVir. Great virus detection rate and always protecing your computer with a background scan.
-Free firewall: Download Comodo Firewall.

Overall I would go with Kaspersky. Also you can try it for free at http://usa.kaspersky.com/downloads/trial-versions.php

Everything I have read indicates those are good protections. I do not think they have a fireway. To check go to START....CONTROL PANEL...SECURITY CENTER. When you open up the security center that will tell you whether you have a frewall...Usually it will say whether it is ON or OFF.

I use ad-aware for spyware protection plus what is provided by my internet provider (McAfee) I also pay for Webroot for spyware protection.
