I believe he's more versatile, more learned in music, more talented.
He can be a one-man band.
He's always cool and in-control of his music. He's not an elitist which makes him simple and down to earth.
My fave of his music? You Can't Hurry Love

I would have to say Elton, because he is much more outgoing and has a more visual image then Phil-more flash and style, not so main-stream.
