Juan Pablo Montoya Roldán (born September 20, 1975 in Bogotá, Colombia) is a race car driver in NASCAR for Chip Ganassi Racing and a former Formula One driver.

He was born in Bogotá where he was taught the techniques of karting from an early age by his father Pablo, an architect and motorsport enthusiast. He has enjoyed great success, most famously in top open wheel racing series.

After driving for Williams for four full seasons, Montoya found the McLaren Mercedes car unpredictable, often claiming it felt like the steering wheel was not "attached" to the rest of the car.

Montoya started his 2006 Formula One World Championship campaign learning that the 2005 F1 Champion Fernando Alonso had been contracted by McLaren-Mercedes for the 2007 season. At the same time McLaren did not take up their option on Montoya for 2007, while his teammate Kimi Räikkönen remained a free agent.

Montoya's Formula One career effectively came to an end on 9 July when he announced in a public press conference from the US that he had signed a contract to run in the NASCAR series from 2007.

On 11 July 2006, McLaren-Mercedes announced that Montoya would stop racing for the team with immediate effect, to enable him to prepare for his future career and take time out with his family. This ultimately confirmed Montoya's exit from F1.

However, in the press conference on July 14 at the French Grand Prix, Ron Dennis stated that Montoya was still under contract with McLaren-Mercedes and he would remain in contract with the team until the expiration of the deal.

Following further speculation that he could start racing in the NASCAR series as early as 2006, Dennis publicly offered Montoya an early exit from his contract with McLaren-Mercedes, provided that he resigned from receiving any payout to terminate his contract.

He was also famous for not getting along with Jacques VIlleneuve. In one race at which they collided, they both were out of the race and (of course) pissed with each other. Now, this is really funny...

Montoya said, "Do that again and I'll put you in that f***ing wall!" and Jacques replied, "Do that again and I'll put you in that f***ing tree!"

During a press conference, when they were asked about that incident, Jacques begin to explain what happened and put the blame on Montoya, saying he should've been at another side of the track and Montoya cut him off saying, "I was."

Montoya doesn't exactly have good PR; when he was with Williams, he had issues with teammate Ralf Schumacher. But he is well known for his bold overtaking moves (as well as an expert at it). F1 was so interesting when he was in it (it still is, though).

Are u kidding me? Juan Pablo Montoya was a CART champion. Won the Indianapolis 500 in 1999. Signed to BMW Williams at the time in 2001 and moved to Mclaren Mercedes in his last 2 years of F1. At the 2006 USGP, there was a big accident going into turn 1 that everyone was convinced that Montoya caused the accident. After the race, he announced that he would no longer drive for F1 and he signed a deal with his former CART boss Chip Ganassi to race for him in NASCAR. If u want to know how he's doing in NASCAR, u can go to the official website and check it out because I personally don't care what he does over there now. When he was in F1, he really wasn't that great of a driver to me!

He raced in the Champ car before moving to F1 and then to NASCAR. Maybe he likes the American life better than the European life. Maybe he actually wants to race. F1 is fast and all but there is almost no action. He is an aggressive guy and this follow the leader stuff probably doesn't fit him.

I don't think Schumacher should be the judge of all that's great in racing. He only ran F1. That's a pretty narrow view of the racing world. I think a much better opinion would be Mario Andretti or something even if he has been out of racing for some time. He raced Indy cars, F1, NASCAR and probably a few more. At least Montoya had the courage to try something new by racing in open wheel racing, stock cars, dirt track, and ALMS.

That would be Juan Pablo Montoya, a Columbian driver who raced F1 between 2001 and 2006 for Williams and then for McLaren. He never really delivered on his potential, and moved to NASCAR.

A great driver from the American circuits who joined Williams, then switched to McLaren before returning to America. Juan Pablo Montoya was gifted to be able to keep a car on the limit, Top-Gun style, in contrast to many drivers who are prized for their techno expertise.

Juan Pablo Montoya is from Colombia he raced BMW and McLaren, done his shoulder playing tennis (not) it was more like falling of a quad bike then got fed up of being told off from McLaren then packed his bags and left halfway through the season. Shame really because he is not a scared to over-take driver.

Juan Montoya used to drive for F1 from 2001 to 2006. He left because everyone was angry with him after he caused the pile up in the US grand prix 2006. He has now moved to nascar and i havent heard anything about him ever since.

properly i think of Montoya felt that Gilliland became into racing somewhat too aggressively for some being a pair of laps down while Montoya became into in the right-10 on the time. the two way, what Gilliland did became into very irresponsible, & I accept as true with NASCAR for parking him after JPM's vehicle became into deemed undrivable.
