HI, MY 5 GIRLFRIENDS AND I ARE IN OUR EARLY TWENTIES. WE WANT TO MAKE A TIMECAPSULE TO OPEN IN 10 YEARS TIME (2017). I WAS THINKING OF PERHAPS EACH OF US GETTING A PLASTIC TUPPERWEAR CONTAINER AND FILLING IT WITH OUR OWN PERSONAL THINGS, AND THEN PLACING EACH OF THE 6 TUPERWEAR CONTAINERS (ONE FOR EACH OF US), IN A LARGE PLASTIC TUB AND SEALING IT, AND STORING IT IN A CUPBOARD AT MY HOUSE. WOULD THIS KEEP WELL? WHAT SORT OF THINGS CAN WE INCLUDE? THANKS FOR ALL YOUR HELP! KIND REGARDS :)

Materials needed to make a Time Capsule

Coffee Can or a Large Jar or other container.
Many Miscellaneous Items
Instructions:

Creativity is the key here. You are going to use the coffee can or a large bottle to make a time capsule to hide away. Use paint and/or construction paper to decorate the outside of the coffee can. You can try to make a special design... Confetti and the date you hid the time would be fun, or how about fireworks, or a clock? You probably will want to write a small note to whomever might find your time capsule. Something along the lines of "Do Not Open until January 1st 2020" or whatever year you choose.
Once you are done designing your Time Capsule, find some special items to place inside it.

Filling the Time Capsule, you could also make a dairy entry, all about bout your past present and what you hope for in the future. Need not be to long Maybe an A4 sheet would do, or maybe a paragraph or two for each. A newspaper would be good to. If you are in education get a class picture and have them the class sign it, get a picture of you and your friends and all of you sign it. If the school has a newspaper put that in. You could also put copies of some your class work to remind yourself how awful it was back then. If you are at work adjust accordingly. Also put money, catolgues, copies of your fave mags, pictures of your fave celebrities and ones of those you hate. Put in a list of your fave foods and a list of your most hated foods and maybe some pictures. A List of your fave music/films/books and must hated music/films/books .You all could put a small trinket something you like but is not valuable but precious to you.

Hope that is of use to you.

Certainly your idea can work, but takes up more space than might be neccesary. THINGS are the most obvious. Anything current, and/or anything that relates to you. A newspaper date and headline to document the day you put it all away. Pictures cards letters, anything that matters to you now.

With all due respect you might find things greatly changed in 10 years.

Certainly too I like the idea of burying one, but you may not have the ways and means to do that without some help. Like a large section of PVC stuffed with your items, capped at each end and PVC cemented shut, to be cut open at some future date agreed upon.

Part of the issue in storing anything for 10 years might just be space, and moves, etc.

4 or six inch %with caps glued on each and each end could probably stay to tell the tale hundreds of years. pass to abode Depot or Lowe's and seem at it. Six inch pipe could could come back from a plumbers " grant abode" in case you like that substantial of pipe. call a close by plumber and that they probably could supply you all the scrap 4 inch you would be wanting. Six inch (or extra advantageous?) could probably could come back from a commercial plumbing employer yet I think of they had nonetheless be chuffed to offer you short products. 4 inch %lengths of ten ft on the shops are nonetheless purely 6 or 7 money. you will could purchase primer, glue and despite caps you will need nonetheless. do no longer understand what your funds is.

Wouldnt it be more exciting to bury it somewhere??? If its sealed properly it will last fine. Photos of you all, a bank statement (you can see how much money you had), a pay slip, latest catalogues of clothes etc, magazine with latest famous people in it. Dont forget to put in a couple of moth balls to stop any pests ruining your project. Good luck!!
