Children go missing every day. Unfortunately children are abducted every day. Often in circumstances where the gross incometence of their parents were not partially to blame.

While the case of maddie is indeed sad, what makes her so special? Why aren't there posters and pictures and youtube reports etc etc etc etc of all the other missing and kidnapped children around europe? The levels of media saturation are excessive.

This case hase several strange twist.
Why was she(and 2 younger children in a room alone)
Was that a picture of her on the internet
Was that an actual sighting of her in europe?
These questions need to be answered and so far nothing.
Sad fact is that with the human"flesh" trade we may never know whay has happened to most of these children.

Well... At the begining, I felt like you...

This was not something out of the ordinary, and I couldn't understand all the fuss...

I'm not sure if the media sensationalized this story when it was reported, but I know their parents definitely contributed to give Maddie a high profile.

Now I have taken an interest in the story, and I now even see Madeleine (and her parents) as celebrities. (Who said you need to be a movie star or a rock star to be a celebrity?)

And despite all the exaggerated attention that this case has undeniably received, some criticism could be made to some lower profile cases of missing children.

For example, here in Portugal, only after seeing the conduct of the McCanns in order to try to find out their eldest daughter's whereabouts, did it occur to a Portuguese couple whose son went missing 8 years ago, to also make a website dedicated to find their missing child...

It all depends on how much money and time the family is willing to put up. Plus some families prefer it not to be a media frenzy. Sometimes the best way to get someone back is not to let the bad guys know you are looking. It's easier to make a mistake when you think no one is looking for you.
