it's a mothers choice. i went back at 6 weeks with both of my kids. it was financial. i'm a single mom, not totally by choice. i love my job too.
don't let anyone tell you any amount of time. it's when you're comfortable doing so.

I was aiming for 6 wks to return to work but there was no way that was going to happen when the time came. I was way too tired still from getting up with night feedings. I don't know how women do it-hopefully they get help.
I just started going back to work 3 days a week (I used to work 5 days) and that is plenty for now (except the money, hopefully I can live on this cut back for little) before I start 5 days again. I just started getting some energy back but the days I work, I just want to crash by 6pm. Take as long as you can.
PS My son just started to sleep through the night last week so if he started sleeping through the night earlier, I might be ok with going back to work earlier.

It is supposed that the baby should be at least 5-6 months old before its mom go back at work but the most important thing is not when you will go to work but how you will take advantage of the time that you will spend with your baby. You may be with it all day doing nothing correctly and you may spend with it 3 hours having a happy baby.

It wasn't up to me for when I had to go back- I had to go when my leave ran out or pay the school district for the days I took.
Best thing- to remain home. Not an option for me as I make more money than my husband and the benefits through my job are better for my family.
I went home when our baby was 10 weeks old.
Not long enough for me or my baby. Until our country recognizes the need for mommy's to remain home for at least the first year, no change will occur.

as long as everything goes ok, you can be back to work after you're 6 weeks postpartum. where i work, i'd need a dr.'s note if i wanted to go back any sooner than that. it's up to you, as long as you feel up to it. with my daughter i didn't go back to work until she was a year old. there are alot of feelings that go into it also, not just the physical stuff. but with bb#2 i'm planning on going back as soon as my body can handle it and i've got breast feeding under control. which should be about 2 months. also, 2 months was when my daughter started sleeping through the night, hopefully this one's the same or sooner.

Thats a personal decision where one has to decide what is right for their family and work situation. I was able to take my baby to work with me - so I went back to work (with the baby) when she was 6 days old.

It really is your decision, and when it is that the mother is comfortable. It also depends on the mother's company policy. But the usual amount of time is when the baby is three months old.

Totally up to you and your financial needs.
I stayed home due to complications - when I decided child care wasn't an option (for me or our baby) I ran a small child care business from my home (I am a nurse).
When we moved to another state and I was expecting #3
I stayed home - (no child care)..
Now I did return when my youngest went to first grade
but I hated missing classroom things, Pto meetings
or when they were sick - so I work at home now -
Every house is different.

Thats a decision for the mom. If she feels comfortable leaving to go to work. I know I had a hard time leaving my son with family just to go to dinner.

personallyl, i will say 2 years... coz up to 2 years ol, that when a baby needs their mums most than anyone else
but if u have to back to work, then i'll say is 6 months.. poor baby if we leave him too young .....
but please even though u have a babysitter or mom or mom in law who will take care of ur baby, let ur baby get used ti with them first... so he/she feel safe with the person
