You can contact the IRS....they are the "ultimate" source on these matters.

(use the search...but can be "cloudy" looking around in there if you aren't used to their 'format')

or

1-800-tax-1040 for their help line.
(Yes, that's the real number, I typically refer clients there during tax season...and it's been around for many, many years)

Oh, the IRS will eventually let you know that someone claimed you as a dependent on their taxes...especially if you marked "can anyone else claim you as their dependent" as a NO. It is usually in the form of a letter mailed to your address of record...and may take +/- a year (hopefully you haven't moved)...but contacting the IRS proactively...counts in your favor!!!
