ahh you know you have a nice question but for real..i mean we should use brain first before heart!!! so my answer is it doesn't tear us apart or keep us together ..it is an emotion we have that will only give us good things!! as for tearing us apart comes from hatred and as for keeping us together comes from social skills...thank you.

this depends what kind of love you mean... if you mean feeling love, it could go either way... but if you mean showing love, well then love almost always works to bring people together, unless the love being shown is for someone else, and the most loving thing to do is to stay away, like if someone was trying to steal your friend away, if your friend loved you they would tear apart from the other person and stick to you. so in a way, it could do both... love always ends in something good though, together or apart, love is the best way.

it should keep us together. but when a large chain saw comes walkin down the street, love may fail us.

It can do either - depends who your talking about...
If it were a 13 yr old girl and a 50 yr old teacher - sure they'd be torn apart.
If it were two consentual lovers - Id say they'd be kept together...
