i am as British as they come.so much so i think i actually descended from a cricket bat and a cup of tea.but with the state of our country at the moment with all the immigrants being given special treatment,i would not die for it.Besides i would be useless at war,i cant handle a water pistol let alone a machine gun

No. I don't believe any kind of violence is justified unless it is the PERSONAL self-defense of family. To kill, well murder actually complete strangers over Land, Money or an Idea is repellant. Fortunately for those who are worried about it there is a never ending supply of those who find warfare glorious or manly, who will gladly go to war.
Patriotism is at the Heart of most of the unrest in the world, and really makes no sense (though religion comes a close second, not having religion, but letting religion foment hatred)
Most of my family serves in the armed forces, and I have no problem with that, but I wont voluntarily out myself in a position to take a human life. Life is far too valuable.

I already answered the question long ago that I would die for far less than an entire country. As a policeman I risked my life for some people that could either care less about me and my colleagues or were actively trying to hurt us.
So, yes I would die for a lot of things to protect others. Doesn't mean that I want to die in vain, but I have made the decision that some things are worth protecting, even if they don't appreciate it.
The "quiet" everyday citizens go about their lives and never have to face this choice, usually left to cops and soldiers. Maybe ignorance is bliss.

I agree with the other guy... Toltec... or something.
I'd die for freedom but not for my country because
a) I'm more likely to do because of my country (South Africa) as the crime is (WAY) out of control so theres a good chance I get murdered by criminals or the police or just neglect...
b) I don't think it's worth it... I would fight for the people (well... some of them...) but not for the government as they are mostly corrupt.
I'm getting out of here as soon as I can.

I know there are things wrong but there are with any country and this is where my family come from and where they are now and i love every square inch of it so i'd be proud to defend it with my life. I'd rather fight and die than be a slave.
There are so many Chamberlain-like Liberal appeasers out there it's scary. We're going to need someone like Churchill (and I don't mean Ward the Tard) to whip their sorry butts into shape.

If I knew that dying for my country meant directly or indirectly protecting my family: Yes I would. Wouldn't you?
