You get depressed when there are hormonal, and chemical imbalances in your brain. If it is just a mild depression, then try what I do, stop focusing on one thing. Usually when you are depressed, your mind seems to get stuck in a feedback loop. You constantly find yourself thinking about something that makes you feel more depressed, so you obsess over it some more, feel worse, obsess some more, and so on. If you break this cycle, you can usually feel better after only a day or two. However, if you have a more serious depression, or an underlying medical cause, you need to seek professional help.

Depression is a mental illness which affects many humans in today's society. As a depression sufferer, I learnt that it was triggered off by the inability for my brain to produce the 'feel good' hormone/chemical Seritonem.

I have had a very advandaged upbringing in a family that love and have always nurtured me. I have always been allowed to express myself and have been taught to be positive about life and who I am.... BUT, nevertheless, developed depression anyway.

I was diagnosed at the age of 16 where I also developed Obsessive Compulsive Disorder and Anxiety Disorder after a break up with my boyfriend at the time. I also stopped eating meals and had the urge to hurt myself.

Different severities call for different treatments. I was given anti-depressant medication and therapy for 12 months. 3 Years went by before I relapsed and was given the same treatment.

GREAT NEWS!! I have learnt to understand my thought processes, and to recognise when I start feeling down in the dumps. I regularly feel depressed - but basically ignore it and it leaves me alone. I would never have gotten this skilled with my mind without support from professionals and of course my loved ones.

It happens to the best of people.

Support is the best way to help manage the disease. Try to smile to help release the seritonem. Try to have an outlet for excess energy and worries.

Depression is actually a chemical imbalance of the brain which is triggerred by some bad event in your life in some cases called reactive depression while in other cases it is just triggerred without any visible reason.
Though depession is an extreme emotion of sadness (a litte amount of this feeling may be good for us so that we dont commit the same mistakes again) actually which makes your life unbearable as you are not the same personality anymore and the brain power seems to diminish greatly which results in loss of self confidence.
Keeping oneself busy with meaningful work can be helpful in avoiding depression as it is seen people who think too much (negative thinkers) tend to be more prone to this or is it the other way round.

I have no idea why we have depression, I have depression because it is in my family and I just get so sad about things and sometimes I wonder if life is even worth living but medicinee and therapy help. The only method is to cope with it and again medicin and therapy really helps. Some times I wounder why god would give me depression but it is who I am and if I did not have it I would not be the person I am today.

Depression can be situational. And they can be an imbalance of brain chemistry. It is important to find a medication that will help a person feel more normal. A person also needs counseling to change the old negative self loathing in to a positive thing. It takes work.

Also, exercise is a great way to reduce stress and to help with depression. I know it is hard to get out there, but a person needs to push themselves to exercise and will find it is so helpful.

Depressions are the lowest moment in life. We feel depressions when the primary things you need in life is absent. You feel depressed because you don't have it in your hands the moment you should have it. Depressions is equated to sadness and loneliness. It brings your life in a misery as if there is no new tomorrow. Actually depressions in life are just a manifestation on how you deal your life. If you have all the negative feeling the more depressions you will feel. Positive outlook in life balances depressions. It gives new hope for a fresh day. Have a positive mind by implanting fresh ideas to combat your problems. This is were you could escape depressions in life. Lastly, pray to the Almighty God that this is only a challenge in life.

Like everything else involving the brain, there is no one answer for what causes depression, and no one solution.

For some, it's a chemical imbalance that can be treated with medication. For others it's sadness that can be helped with counseling or just talking it through.

reverse it by changing the scene for example if you go to watch scary movie when you go straight to sleep you will have nightmare or you can't keep your mind of being scared you mind will be occupied with that story but if you go watch comedy after scary movie it will erase all the scary thoughts. If you are depress and you can detect your own mood why do you feel that way for example instead of sleep and eat go out and enjoy outside go to the beach fishing skiing play basket ball whatever activity you enjoy outside of home.If you can't sleep because of it do everything for you to sleep make your bed the most comfortable thing on earth to sleep in make your room beautiful anything to attract sleep then you'll be able to sleep.whatever chips is missing replace it with opposite of what make you depress.

The moment we give the authority to someone to hurt us or when we are not confident about ourselves,we fall into depression.

Try to have a positive attitude towards life, feel confident about yourself, make friends, spend time with your loved ones and learn from the mistakes you committed in your life.Make a conscious effort to come out of it.Help yourself, nobody else can help you.

Its easy to fall into depression. When I say fall in I mean like into a cave or dungeon because its very hard to see clearly and there is only one way back out the way you came in. Once people start to feel down because they don't believe in themselves this can lead to mild but easily treated depression but if this is not controlled and you start to hate feeling depressed you can sink further and further and further until you really think you are going mad. By letting things upset us badly
we sink into this state. If we were to just try to love ourselves for all our good points and do things that make us love ourselves and think things about ourselves that make us feel loved within we can become better. I have had depression
for almost all of my life and through reading literature and studying my own experiences people can never actually get rid of depression they can only learn to love and help it. Because it is the part of you that all your sadness and fears have collected in and you can only help it by loving, respecting
, caring , standing up for yourself and being confident about who you are. NEVER let anyone make you feel you are worthless, if you cannot stand up to a person who makes you feel this way or it is someone you truly love leave the person and move on with your life until you are wiser and stronger as this person will make your depression really bad. When we are afraid of a person, a bully or intimidating person we cannot feel happy only afraid and to deal with this we need to firstly separate ourselves emotionally and start to learn to become stronger and less vulnerable to people like this by not getting annoyed by the way they make fun of you. Stand up for yourself and make the bully feel weak. Expose him/ her as this is the only way you can prevent any more of these emotional onslaughts without losing any more confidence.

These are what I perceive the main reasons of depression to be.
