Moods are the outcome of chemical changes in the body caused by the mind's reaction(s) to an event, memory or thought. When we feel bad but don't know why, it means our self-esteem is down due to reasons hidden in the subconscious. This is normal. We all feel down at times; it is just a "passing cloud" that we should not consider permanent or take too seriously.

Do not get used to antidepressants. A better way yet is to go out and mingle with people for sometime and return home, take a shower (or better a bath in the tub), prepare a favorite dish, watch your favorite program or read for a while.

Most likely depression. Depression is nothing to be ashamed about. It is like any other disease that we humans can suffer with. Also, you might be having too much negative energy in your life. Also, negative thoughts of the past play over and over again in your brain. You need to rewrite what you say to yourself.

For instance when I start to obcess about how bad my X is and all he did that was horrible. I have to repeatly out loud say..............That is my past that is my past that is my past......

For the loneliness, get your self out there with other people even if you don't talk to anyone. Stop focusing on what people think of you and let go of your fear of flubbing up and be who you are.. I realized this in high school that the difference between the popular kids and the nerdy ones, was that they had the ability to laugh at themselfs. And also they didn't obcess about what people think about them.

Some people get their mojo later in life.

Do not allow yourself to think any sad thoughts - keep a journal where every sentence you start off with "I am glad for.....". Get out, volunteer, help others, and pretty soon, you'll realize that sadness is only a matter of perspective.*

We all feel a little down sometimes, and that's okay. It passes - do something to keep your mind off your mood for a while, maybe talk to somebody about it. It helps.

Good luck, and cheer up. You've got a lot of reason to.

Show me one person in this whole wide world who is happy and I will personally take away your sadness. All of us born into this miserable exile, an illusion that is our dear earth. We are all alone, to ourselves, the relationships that we share with each other are merely of convenience. Look out for true happiness, search for knowledge, wisdom and true meaning of your existence. Open up your mind and heart, try to elevate yourself from the 'everydayness' of life. Try to come out of this miserable preconceived notions of happiness and sadness that the manmade society has imposed upon you. Free yourself, do not let anyone hurt you, detach yourself from the world and look within. Ask your pure consciousness to show you the path of true happiness only then this illusory sadness will leave you. Remember all of us are in the gutter but some of us are looking at the stars. I would recommend 'Many Lives Many Masters' by Dr.Brian Weiss, that will surely help you overcome your sadness.

I'm in the same boat, although i think my reason would be different from yours perhaps, i used to be worse but i am hopefully getting better, i get better by getting my mind off my worries, i go out to places that don't remind me of my imperfections, and i try to develop good friendships where i can. Hobbies are good and also short courses and social groups.
