right now, im thinking the broken ribbon is the choice that Bella chose that broke her friendship w/ Jacob [im not sure about it.. im guessing..no idea at all] Eclipse - maybe because.. Sun and the Moon coliding = Vampires and Werewolves being allies? [not sure either] i need your opinion or atleast if anyone of you knows what it really meant! thanks thanks :]

In the book, the Eclipse thing is explained. This is what Bella says to Jacob. "...My personal sun. You balanced out the clouds nicely for me." Jacob replies " The clouds I can handle. But I can't fight with an eclipse." The eclipse is Edward or her love for Edward. It's on page 600.
As for the ribbon, I have no idea.

I haven't actually read Eclipse yet, but I'm trying to get to the bookstore. I'd just like to point out that the cover may not actually mean anything. The cover for New Moon meant nothing; it was just continuing the Twilight style, and the cover for Eclipse may be doing the same thing. I don't know, though, Stephenie Meyer still hasn't gotten the FAQ section up for Eclipse on her site. She did say, somewhere on the site that New Moon and Eclipse were easier to name, and they also fit better, so maybe it does have something to do with the vampires and werewolves, though I wouldn't know because I still haven't read the book. Just saying, though.

I think the cover symbolizes a broken relationship or one that is almost broken such as Bella's realtionship with either Edward or Jacob. It could be that she chose Edward, therefore letting go of Jacob or that when she realized Jacob was right and that she also loved him too (just not as much as for Edward) it kind of hindered the intensity of her realtionship with Edward. I think the title infers the eclipse of her heart. Her heart was colliding with either Edward or Jacob meaning one of them could be left in darkness like in an Eclipse. I hope that meant Jacob because (sorry to all Jacob fans) I really think her and Edward are true soulmates.

towards the end of the book it has the word eclipse in it. when bella went to see jacob i think, after the incident. read it again, it's the only time the word was mentioned in the whole book. i have no idea what the ribbon stands for... but it makes a nice cover.

Your idea is really good! I thought the eclipse thing was like two worlds colliding (werewolves/vampires) and the ribbon was like torn between two minds, but it's just a theory.

i think the title is explained when jacob talks about it.
hes says something like: "I am your sun bella, but i cant fight an eclipse." refering to edward as the moon and himself as the sun, bella as the earth.
and the cover, well, you see, i think it means bella being torn between two good things, (jacob and edward.)
