They know they cannot release any evidence so this call is utterly ridiculous.

They should also know police cannot discuss all details of the investigation with them. Its against the law.

They said they knew that all avenues were being explored but when it gets reported they are being looked at they have a massive dummy spit. Why? It would be odd if police didn't explore all possible avenues - surely?

Faith - there is no more proof against Morat than the McCanns that he was involved yet the McCanns happily reported and linked up all that on their website and had their friends turn up and point the finger at him - how would they know he at the apartment - they were all getting drunk in the bar

Madgal - I think you will find the Portugese locals always thought McCanns we suspicious - spending all night every night in a bar when you and your mates leave your kids all day and all night is not a normal thing in Portugal - they don't relate to this sort of behaviour at all.

Faith - ???? err... so its ok for police leaking this to press but when they leak possible evidence to point to parents that's not ok?

2007-08-09 23:11:19 · update #3

Faith - you are assuming everything we read which says 'a source close to investigation' actually comes from that - I doubt it - most of its made up by media to get their own angle on it.

None of us really know what the truth is so we can only speculate as to the guilt or innocence of those being investigated - it could be someone or some other scenario. I wonder if we will ever know?

They want to know if the evidence relates to them, so if they find out if it does, they'll do a runner with the million quid

Top of the morning. I think it is because the police are leaking so much to the portuguese press that the McCanns want some kind of offical statement. Rumours are now rife in Praia in regards to the parents involvement (did you see channel 4 yesterday) - so if stories are being leaked, for whatever reason, I think it is only fair that they release something to back it up. They knew that eventually they would be under suspision - however you would have thought by now they would either have been cleared or investigated.

I get what you are saying - there are a lot of people that would not have left the kids on their own. But in recent days the portuguese police have been leaking suspision about the parents to the press. Whether this is to 'flush' them out and see if they crack and confess. Or whether it is because the police have no idea where/ or what happened to Maddys they are frustrated and looking for anyone to blame. Under their secrecy rule, they cannot divulge any evidence they have - however if they had evidence against the McCanns i presume they would have offically made them 'suspects' (cant remember the portoguese name for it). I dont know.... Because there is so few factual details due to the stupid secrecy rule, the public are really left in the dark and can only presume. Most missing children cases are solved by making the public more involed - not keeping evidence from them. I think this is why the McCanns are so high profile - because the police have their hands tied as to what they can tell the public. Sorry - that was a lonnnnggg edit!

uncertain what has occurred right here.. yet i doubt that the British government could % to stall the Portuguese analyze, in spite of each and everything the forces have been working fairly close jointly sifting by DNA.. I additionally do not think of that the subsequent step would be an interrogation or an interview... yet an actually fee.. (properly with any luck) i don't think of that the British government or the Portuguese police at fault... especially interior the mild of the extensive media tidal-wave..... The McCanns are the to blame ones staggering from the start of this occasion. i does not take this tale with too plenty salt... Any application utilized to the homestead place of work could be backed by calls and that i'm constructive that the police forces could have been in touch by telephone on the slightest postpone.. i think of that that's basically the clicking searching for a narrative on the project

Totally agree!

God forbid when a child goes missing the police actually consider ALL viable suspects. Has the world gone mad? How dare they suspect the parents.

Give me a break!

Gerry McCann gets more ridiculous by the day.

Baselessly! Are you joking Faith. The police have to consider all possibilities and the majority of the time these crimes are commited by family members. Time for a bit of logic me thinks!

Have to agree with kamran and Jack h. Gerry is fishing to find out if they have any evidence against him. Shows him to look extremely guilty if he hasn't done anything.

Sounds like the McCann's - have worked out the Press are starting to turn on them & starting to panic because British Detectives are now involved..So - as the Portuguese Police are hopeless and corrupt they have probably decided to team up with them - in exchange for some "Team McCann" donation money...in return for a wee leek of info...

I cannot understand you. People that want to blame these parents and think they are suspect. If some evidence is released and this is common practise as it may stir someones memory I think it would positive.
Hate to say what i think has happened but we've got a 9 year old missing where I live and sorry to say after so long I doubt this child has been abducted.
Maybe I watch to much "America's Most Wanted" I don't think so but cause I'm tired of sickos taking our children, torturing them, and killing them.
I was approached by a man when I was 11, he was naked beneath the waist to me and my friend. We went to court only to find out that he had chased 2 younger girts (elementay age) to their home. Lunch time.
I doubt he got any time and was let back on the street just to terrorize others. Yes, I went to court and Yes the judge didn't like him to much, that was obvious but I doubt he got a bad sentence. I am quite sure this pervert continued his behaviour.
I as a victim was not even graced the dignity of knowing his sentence. He had more rights than I did because I was a MINOR.

It is for precisely that reason that they are asking the police to release this evidence. They are playing games. They know that the Portuguese police cannot do this so therefore they thik that the public will end up believing them....

I ask why are they not offering to take polygraph tests?

"They said they knew that all avenues were being explored but when it gets reported they are being looked at they have a massive dummy spit. "

This is their child we are talking about, the level of immaturity from some posters defies belief. Reports are appearing in Portugese newspapers that are being attributed to the police. That is why they are asking.

Gerry previously told us that the police kept them fully up to date with the investigation and that they had a good relationship with them.

Funny how its a good relationship with them when evidence against Murat was being released left right and center.

Now that the shoe is on the other foot ......... somehow Gerry's not having such a great time.

That is not true at all, they have repeatedly said they expect to be interviewed from day 1 as part of the enquiry. They have stayed in Portugal which means the Portugese police have had easy access to them. What they have objected to, and rightly so, is what appear to be unattributed briefings to the press.

I think people should stop speculating.A child is missing no one knows what has happened to her & all people do is harp on about the parents leaving her.
