I have been having problems with my transmission lurching forward on my Jaguar S Type 2003. They have flashed the transmission control module 6 times, changed the transmission and now they tell me its an anti knock sensor. The car lurches forward violently when switching gears. Its an automatic. My question is what is an anti knock sensor and how will it stop the car from lurching?

it senses engine detonation and retards engine timing to avoid engine damage...it is probably cutting the timing to far...causing the engine to "buck"...

a knock sensor is listening for detonation, and in turn the CPU adjusts ignition timing to eliminate the "knock" sounds like you are having issues with the car. bad things happen when ford takes over!
