I have tons of different things I try to relax. I most often have to walk the dog when I get home, and if the day has been stressful, I'll walk him down to the park and sit on a bench staring at the "river" mindlessly for awhile. Lately, I've been playing Sims on the xbox, that seems to help a lot. Going to the movies works the best, because I totally forget everything and am completely distracted for a couple hours. That works wonders. (expensive though)

I go home and kick the cat. No, not mine of course. The one next door. But I don't know how effective it really is.

Last week, after a pretty bad day, I drove into my driveway, got out and went next door. Now that cat isn't all that stupid. Even for a cat. Last month was kinda tough, so I vented quite a few times on it. So it figures I'm not coming over with some kitty treats. I had to chase that little rat bastard all around the yard and onto the roof. Just as I'm ready to give it a solid fifty yard punt, my neighbor opens up with his 30-30 and drills a half a dozen hole through the roof. It's a good thing he's blind so he couldn't see me sprinting across the yard in retreat.

Like I said, I don't think it's all that effective. I think I'll just keep kicking over his mailbox.

Make some green tea and curl up with a great book. Makes me feel good knowing I can escape my world and see someone else's.

Then, sometimes it helps to write my own stories. At times I feel as though I've lost control of my own life, at least in my stories I can control the lives of others.

When I've finally calmed down, I can deal with my own issues. Both of those things work.

I take as long a bath as my kids will let me. I listen to some music, something soothing like classical or jazz. I read. *re-reading a favorite is like slipping on a comfy bathrobe, so I usually skip the new stuff. I sit on my porch and just watch everything. Yeah, it works like a charm.

I usually crash out on the couch and I hate that because then (like now) I can't go to sleep at my regular hour and I end up even more stressed the next day!

I take a bath. 4 out of 5 days.
Most often I'm alone.

Occasionally I am joined by my better half.

Yes, it helps
