Crime in the society is not only becoz of inequality but because of illiteracy, negligence towards social causes & corruption at every level in the Govt. Singapore is a place where lowest crime rates have been seen. I never saw Singapore news paper opened with any such crime news on front page. Think, what is the reason? It is bcoz a higher salary to every Govt official keeps him non-corrupt. The political leaders are educated & honest with a strong political will & committment to do every possible thing for the country's development & they do care for their citizens.

What is lacking in a country like India? The leaders are criminals with a history record, eneducated & they want to fill up their pockets. Govt employees' salary is very less leading to corruption. The judiciay system is also corrupt as every law/rules/regulations has got loop-holes & one can make his way up by paying bribe. Every one finds an opportunity to get the things done fast, in his own way & that's possible. Why, bcoz of corruption? All the political parties also do the same thing to come to power. This is a pity but the same Indians when immigrate to other countries they behave as law abiding citizens as they are considered as the most tolerent people in the world.

If the things are worked out as in the first para I think it is not difficult to find a proper solution to the problem. I'm unaware about who said this sentence.

Any great man has his own foolish moments. even a person imitated ridiculously a great man was called to the Court and he told the Judge that "all scholars advise to follow the great people and do as they do" is the reason for his performance. Crime is a momentary action which is grown in blood and such blood can not be purified. But crime is measured on its severity and the situation. Passing urine in the public road is a crime, but during night where there is no street light and nobody to watch, it is not crime. A criminal always deserve the punishment as per the Law of God - like one who eats salt, should drink water. Even the new born baby which happened to touch the fire by hand, its hands would be burnt. A criminal, who creats loss or destruction to the public or social property (including beliefs) deserve punishment and the punishment should be decided by the head of the Society - not the sufferer - as becoming the Head is a Godly Gift (and the Head is to report to God for the social matters). (Because CRIME is a psycho-phenomenon and one is not always a criminal, but for some time after carrying out the crime, may later be punished himself also) and the criminal deserve the punishment.

When it comes to pedophiles and other violent criminals the judicial system is neglecting and failing the will of the people.

All they have to offer as answers is a bunch of legal jargon, because it's all a game to them. They don't see people as human beings whose lives have been destroyed. All they see is a loop hole in a law book.

The violent criminal has to be removed from society for good. If we as a society are too cheap to build more prisons, then we better start executing more of the ones who deserve to be executed.

Also, judges, lawyers and parole boards should start being held accountable when they let violent people back out on the streets and they kill again. Maybe that will make them think twice about their idiotic decisions.

The purpose of government crime policy should be to minimize crime, to protect people from crime.

Unfortunately, our culture is such in the US that politicians have been able to make crime a political football, and each tries to outdo the other on being 'tough on crime'. Consequently we have quadrupled our prison population in 20 years but we are no safer. Or as my boss once said "If you could make streets safer by just locking up more people, we'd have the safest streets in the world."

i can't remember who said it but i know it was directed towards poverty ( i think it was w.b. yeats) but it meant that if poverty was eradicated there would be no reason for crime, and the saying was said a long time ago before there were pedophiles, murder and sex crimes
