Naw News flash a Nuclear battle field is survivable We proved that in the Nevada desert war games during Nuclear test.
Only thing you have to remember is to wash everything such as can goods off before you open them.
During a Nuclear explosion:
Gamma rays only last for seconds
Beta rays last for around at most a week
Apha radiation is the one that last but does not penetrate.
So I say we Nuke em first to get their attention then we talk about their surrender.

Doesn't really matter, does it?
Won't be a rival superpower, but some pissed-off towel head who is the lowest on the food chain that will launch at least one, maybe as many as ten missiles.
Bright side is:
Missile Defense Shield will eliminate those ten, but end results for towel head and associates won't be pleasant!
Shush-Kai-Bob anybody?

I'm sitting here looking at it. It's very big and red. Shall I push it now? No, I don't want to end the world on a Friday - perhaps Monday morning.
