I talk to all of my pets and they respond. My cat meows back to me (sometimes it even sounds like actual words), and my hamster comes running to the side of his cage when I say his name. I don't talk to the birds in the trees so much, but that's because I just want to enjoy their beauty and don't want them to fly off.

Yes I talk to animals. I have a dog and a cat, we spend every day together. I ask the dog if he wants to go out, for a walk, sometime he lets me know when his food dish is empty or he needs water. I'll ask him and he will run to his bowl.
If I'm not paying attention and he wants food or water he will pick up his bowl (either food or water) and drop it at my feet. He's is pretty clear about what he wants. I can ask him if he needs out and he will wag his tail. I ask if he needs loving and he goes nuts - a good pet is then in order.
If I see a bird hanging out I say "hello".
When my cat wants a cuddle I tell him what a wonderful little boy he is and when he chews my toes in the morning (4:00 am) I tell him what a **** he is. He's a cat, like he cares.
I love animals and live in a rural area with lots of wildlife yes I greet them the same as I do people. Weird maybe, but I don't care.

Oh, yes, I do! I have a cat & dog, both are "talkative" & enjoy "conversing". They are apart of the family, so as you do with family, I converse with them all the time. I do it automatically when I see them, not even thinking otherwise.
I'm a firm believer that the more interaction you have with your pet, the more "intune" they'll be to you.
Cats & dogs are very perceptive. They might not completely understand the words you're saying. But rest asured, they get the point you're trying to convey to them.

Conversing? No.
Basic "animal talk" such as "C'mere kitty" or "No! Bad cat!" and such? Yes.
Occasionally, when I'm feeling silly, I'll sing nonsense songs that I make up off the top of my head about my cats to my cats...just to watch their ears perk up and to get their attention. But I don't attempt to carry on regular conversations or anything.

Yes I talk to my kitties and my gecko. Despite the fact that I know I will never get a response.. it's nice to just have someone/something to talk to when you don't want to actually talk to someone. I also talk to my gecko a lot when I'm sitting on my computer. I ask him how he's doing, call him baby.. etc.

I spend lots of time talking to my animals, and the critters that live near me. Sometimes, I think I'm crazy but I enjoy chatting with them all. I always try to think of a nice compliment, just in case they can understand me!

The animals should understand. In, this one movie, Karate Dog, there was a part. Cho, the Karate dog, reaplyed to this one man, he said "Q: So, people who talk to their dogs aren't crazy? A: No, those people are crazy." Because Cho was talking to the man and the man understode him.
