It will form a compound, binary to be exact,
example, FeO (ferrous oxide / Iron (II) Oxide)
however if its 3 it will form a ternary compound
example, H2SO4 (Sulfuric acid) [note: 2 and 4 should be subscripts, just don't know how to do it]
