Will they have trouble cashing it?

Most businesses will not accept starter checks. Reason being they are not PREPRINTED with your information, meaning there is no way to prove they are actually your checks. It's just a security measure that is in place to protect you. As for writing them to another person. That would be fine. They could take them to your bank to have it cashed easily or take it to their own account. As long as they have funds in their account to cover the check in case it is returned they will be able to cash it with ease. Lastly, if you are using the checks to pay your bills via mail, that's fine. That's really what the starter checks are for. :)

Your check is as good as your signature. Most places don't want temp checks because they are new accounts. When you order checks for your new account, start your numbering at, at least 300 but I just use 1000. People just assume it is an older establish account. If your bank gives you a hassle about using a starting number higher than 1, buy your checks from one of the online places. They are much cheaper anyway and have more choices of designs. Just type in checks and a ton of places will pop up with 100s of designs and even some that will give a donation back to nonprofits. One set of my checks sent a pittance back to an elephant sanctuary but there are many choices if you don't want elephants on your checks. And there are often discount deals in your Sunday paper. . .
