I am sorry, my dear chap. The Time Machine's in the shop right now for repairs, so I can't give you a concrete answer.

A Russian invasion? I'm going to rub my eyes, blink a few times and reread this... A Russian invasion? Considering the humbling Russian defeat in the Crimean War only a few years before (1856), I don't see Russia as the mighty invading power.
No country was poised for an invasion of the US at the time of the Civil War. The US naval blockade was largely successful and Union merchant ships still dominated the world markets. The reason why the US Civil War lasted for four years and not one or two is that A) blunders by the overly confident and underly compentant leadership of the Union Army, and B) support for war in the North had waned early on, with some regions fully supporting the war effort, others finding a more political means with a diplomatic solution. Had we seen an invasion by a foreign power, I think the full weight of the US navy would have seen the end of that invading force's supply lines and an end to shipping in said country. The Confederacy would have been most likely left alone to its own means for the duration of the foreign intervention mop-up, as no European power had enough logistics to assault a full continent (and Britain realized this fully and was half-hearted in its temptation to recognize or support the Confederacy, the British Empire was in no way prepared for a large North American war, plus this brought great risk to Canada). No, I don't think Russia, or any other power, really contemplated an invasion. By this time the US was nearly the economic and industrial giant that Britain and Germany were, but with a far larger population, far more educated and wealthy than Russia, and in a much better position than France (which was beaten horribly in the Franco-Prussian War a few years later).
So to answer your question of what would have happened had Russia invaded? It would have quickly lost, and probably brought about the territorial disintegration of a much weakened Russian Empire.

It is useless to speculate, since Russia had no reason to want the American Civil War to end.
The Old World would've loved to see the United States bickering and fighting amongst themselves until they disintegrated into a million tiny pieces. That way, they could swoop down and take North America, Mexico along with it, and start fattening themselves on the readily available natural resources without fear of retaliation, since the United States, once broken up, would be too weak to stop, say, England.
They also would've liked to watch the bank notes start rolling in as the Americans bought weapons from the Europeans.
As somebody else put it, "Divide and conquer!"

If you enjoy posing questions like this, you might also enjoy an author named Harry Turtledove. He has written a number of entertaining novels of alternative history (what if's) about the Civil War. He has a scenario in a few that have the CSA and USA fighting against each other in WWI and WWII.

I can't imagine that they would have been successful, moving an army that far away in those times? I suppose some other countries would have objected to Russian intervention, perhaps England? Other countries surely would have been involved somehow.
If somehow left unresolved, though, the negative results would have lingered on, leaving America in some sort of Balkan-type mess with lots of hard feelings and unresolvable issues, though any of this seems impossible to fathom!

Where did you ever dream up this question? The possibility is about as probable as the U.S. invading France to put an end to their revolution. Something so far from the realm of possibility doesn't even deserve an hypothesis.
