I am a copywriter at a leading web firm. I've been here for over 1 year. When I ask for work, boss says there is work in the pipe-line ; yet to come.

Meanwhile I did an odd job for another department, but that's about it. Even they say they have no work for me now, even though I know there is enough and more work there for me.

Have not been given any work for the last 3 weeks. Whilst other copywriter has been given 2 big projects.

No one says anything bad to me either. Am just browsing the web all day. What is heppening do you think? What should I do?

Its not paid by job.
Am getting a decent salary, enough for a senior copywriter.

Are you paid by the job so that it costs them nothing to have you sit there? Or, you are not doing a good job and they are in the process of getting rid of you-layoff and no work available. I would be looking around just in case. It's boring to not work at work anyway. I'm a confronter so I would be asking but you have to do it however you see fit because you will pay the consequences. I would want to know just where my job stands or if I can have confidence that my position will still be there with me in it. It's a reasonable question since there is no work for you and you need income. They may let you go when you ask so be prepared. I would have a couple of hats in the fire before I pushed but would not wait too long. Most jobs you get fired for browing the web or personal use of computer. Be careful and check company policy about using the computer for personal stuff.

If they were displeased with your work would they tell you? Can they fire you if they want to? Did you screw up a project and now they are just keeping you out of the loop? Has there been a slowdown with incoming work?
I don't know but, if it were me, I'd make an appointment with my supervisor to try to find out why I wasn't being given work assignments. It could be that they just don't have enough work to go around and they want their more experienced employees to do what does come in. Maybe they just want you to "get the message" and leave on your own so they don't have to give you Workman's Compensation (this comes out of their pockets).

it is definetly a bad sign. did you get feedback regarding your last assignments? you should certainly speak tp the person you report to about the situation. not in a accusatory manner, but in a manner that reflects your genuine interest in working.

good luck!!

Means you're about to be canned because they don't have any work for you.
