What are the difference between these two?
How do I tell them apart?

You may not be able to - and this would depend somewhat on your definition of man made.

If you're just considering "aquacultured" live rock as man made, all this would be is a base material that's put into the ocean for a period of 1 1/2 to 2 years so that natural organisms colonize it. If the material used is natural reef material that's been collected from where it's now exposed above the water's surface, this will be identical to "natual" live rock - fragments that have broken off reefs by storms.

On the other hand, some types of aquacultured rock use cement or a resin material instead of actual reef "fragments". The cement won't look nearly as porous as real coral pieces or travertine rock (which looks like shell material glued together). The resin will be much lighter, but may be just as porous as natural material. One disadvantage to the resin would be that the base would be inert, so it wouldn't help buffer the pH of the tank.

Any good retailer will have their live rock labelled by its source - most Atlantic or Carribean live rock I've seen has been aquacultured, but where I've seen it for sale, the resin rock is sold separately from that made of natural coral fragments (and it was sold separately by the wholesaler as well, and must be ordered specifically).

Man made live rock is simply dead rock meaning base rock that some one has added live rock with and over time it has become live rock..
They are the same thing, once base rock becomes live there is no difference. So there is no way of telling the difference.
I have base rock in my tank along with liverock and now my base rock has become live rock.
