Like for instance is a loser always necessarily a person who is a bum on the streets?

Winner is not one who scores maximum... winner is one who rewrites history... one who becomes a symbol of success in life! Academically Bill Gates was a failure in school... his teachers turned him out of school as they feared his continuance would bring defame. Today he employs the best brains in the industry! Is he a winner or a failure!
Getting good scores in class means gaining knowledge. Not necessarily all the knowledge gained in class is put to use. One a winner always uses knowledge thus gained and gets ahead in life. Those who fail run after numbers but never success! No doubt numbers are necessary but equally important is understanding and putting knowledge to use.
The best librarian is not the richest man in the world. One who becomes rich... owns a small library that teaches fundamental values of life! Following the path of absolute truthfulness, remaining honest, maintaining integrity... steadfastly following the path of patience, perseverance and persistence is what success in life is all about!
Winners always choose a goal in life... those who fail never form a goal in life! Devoid of goal... their life is like a rudderless boat going round and round in the ocean. Having a burning goal and pursuing it with the bulldog determination of Winston Churchill with all eggs in one basket... spells absolute success in life! Such people never fail... come whatever may!
In the domain of God there are no free lunches. All is the result of karma performed! As we sow so shall we get... nothing less for more! Those who look forward to the bright silver lining in the clouds need not necessarily succeed. We have to be diligent in our working! It is the intelligence put to use that generates results.
Intelligence alone does not produce success. Wisdom plays a major role in success. Fighting over petty issues... brooding over the past... worrying about future are some pitfalls that make or mar a man. Forgiveness is one important aspect of life that can never be neglected. Highly successful people demonstrate high degree of forgiveness.
Anger has no place in the field of success. Those who succeed in life control anger at its roots. Devoid of anger... people forgive ignorance of others. Humility is best practiced by those who taste success in life. Winning or losing is not always about money... the real wealth of a person is status gained in the society. A team, or athlete in a competition can be defined by those terms...
But not a person in everyday life...
I once did a feature story for a newspaper about a guy who used to earn a 6-figure salary. Over a long period of time, he developed a "singular" interest in getting drunk on red wine. When I found him, he was in an alley with some rotting newspaper wrapped around his foot because he was suffering from Gout...
He was a "winner" for a while...but he told me his descent into his present (he's probably dead now) state was not something he looked at as "one" thing...
As a street bum, he was still just as courteous and knowledgeable and noble in his actions as he was as an executive desk jockey earning a huge salary...
After a while, he said he just wasn't interesting in anything else except getting buzzed on Port wine, and at the end of my feature story, I invited him over to my apartment complex swimming pool, where me and my girlfriend served him a nice meal, and tried to talk him into re-joining society, giving him the opportunity to get a taste of the good life he left so long ago...
He chose to go back to his cozy "alley" the next day. And never considered himself a "loser..."
And I didn't either...

It's all completely subjective. Who are any of us to label someone a winner versus a loser. 4 all we know the "bum," is a war Vet (MANY are btw) Is he less important- suffering from post tramatic stress disorder from protecting my freedom- than some CEO who looks down upon him who's a workaholic and forgot his kids' names?Nobody's perfect. No winners. No losers. All just humans tryin 2 figure out the game of life.

A loser is someone who find good in nothing. Always complaining, pointing the finger at others...whining.
A winner is sittin on the beach having a cold one and needs nothing much else.

No, a loser can be someone who just never tries. Someone who never tries to better themselves or learn new things can be a loser as well.
A winner is someone who goes for something with all their heart, gives it their best, and is happy even if they lose knowing they did all they could!

everyone loses at some point and everyone wins at another point. the only way to know if ur a winner or loser is to count how many times u lose and how many times u win in life. but face it, that's just a waste of time. but if someone REALLY cares THAT much, i can't answer that question. sorry

Theres no need to call names.
We're all just living our lives. If it matters so much to you to need a label in which to categorize maybe you should do a little self analysis about what drives you in life? Is it the fear of being called a loser (i.e. judged, condemned)? Is it the desire to fulfill your hearts desire?
If its the first, then you will hold fast to labels and let fear influence your decisions
If its the second, then you can rise above pettiness and become self aware.
