I have been living with two guys for almost a year now and one of them is a really good roomate with whom I click and we have similar opinions on cleanliness.

However, the other roomate is a very messy person. I'm not talking untidy and unorganized, I'm talking unsanitary problems with food safety, garbage smells and him not every doing his laundry to the point of it smelling really terrible in the apartment. We have asked him to be more considerate and help with the cleaning of the common areas, but nothing we say or do seems to change his ways. It's gotten to the point where his disregard for cleanliness is causing us stress. We currently are considering pointing out this problem to our landlords to see if they can help us out in this.

Overall I would be much happier if he moved out. We have nothing in common and I always feel awkward around him. And the unsanitary and unpleasant messes he makes are getting to me.
Do you think we should kick him out?

You and the other roommate need to get together and tell him that he has been asked to keep things clean, but did not do it. Tell him that you and your friend feel that he would be better off finding someone that did not mind living like he does.

Option 2. You and your other friend look for another apt. and when you find one, tell him that you and your other friend have found another place and he will need to look for a place of his own.

Option 3. Tell him that the landlord has been getting complaints from the neighbors about how the apt. smelled, and he has asked that you ask him to leave, or he will evict all three of you.
