You could try Ad-aware. Its free spyware software. Even though the thing found 3000 things they may not be all harmful. Could include simple things like just some cookie or harmless tracking thing. I wouldn't panic just yet.

Use Spybot Search & Destroy, then use Ad Aware, both are free, they find most anything important to delete & will delete it for free also.

Do you have windows or a Mac? Windows seem to have more bugs. If your computer is working and has not crashed this may be a scam to get you to download their software to get money or personal information.
I know a way you could get rid of the bugs but you will have to reformat your whole hard drive. You could do this by reinstalling your software. Norton makes software that you use to clean your harddrive. May be one of your friends has the software and you could borrow it.

Spybot will get rid of most of them : http://www.filehippo.com/download_spybot_search_destroy/
Get it there - install it and set it to scan your whole computer - Seach and Destroy mode. When it finishes (will take a while) delete/quarantine everything it finds.
