i dont think there would be, because of all the privacy laws.
death ties in with medical, and medical privacy laws are HUGE.
maybe call another friend or family member who knew ur friend might help.
or go the the city newspaper website where that person lives and check the local obituaries. (example: if he were from EL Paso, TX, check elpasotimes.com under obituaries.)

NOt sure about website, but if you know where he was living, perhaps the local paper would have had an obit printed. Might be readable on line.
