sqrt (3x) + 2 = 14
sqrt(3x) = 12
3x = 144
x = 48
r = 2 sqrt(5d)
55 = 2 sqrt(5d)
27.5 = sqrt(5d)
756.25 =5d
d = 151.25 miles

if the sqrt is only for the 3 and not the x then:
â3x+2=14
â3x=12
x =12 / â3
x = 4â3
x=~ 6.928
55 = 2â5d
11*5/2/â5 = d
d = 11/2*â5 = 5.5 â5
d=~ 12.298 feet

You might want to use parentheses. We can't tell if it's â(3x+2)=14 or â(3x) + 2 = 14.
