Use the Pythagorean theorem:
a^2 + b^2 = c^2
where a and b are the legs, and c is the hypotenuse.
84^2 + b^2 = 91^2
7056 + b^2 = 8281
b^2 = 1225
b = 35

Let the remaining length be x.
By Pythagoras' Theorem,
x^2 + 84^2 = 91^2
x^2 = 8281 - 7056
x = 35 or x = -35
NOTE: x = -35 rejected because length cannot be negative.
Therefore, the length of the remaining side is 35 units.

a² + b² = c²
84² + b² = 91²
7056 + b² = 8281
b² = 1225
b = 35

A²+B²=C²
C is the hypotenuse.
(84)²+B²=(91)²
7056+B²=8281
B²=1225
B=â1225=35

Use the pythagorean theorem.
a^2+b^2=c^2
84^2+b^2=91^2
7056+b^2=8281
-7056 -7056
b^2=1225
Then find the square root.
b=35

I forget... but it has to be less than 91 when added to 84 since the hypotenuse is the longest side (2 sides of a triangle cant add up to more than the longest side). So its somewhere between 1 and 7. I think. Are you sure you have the question right?
