Whenever I'm stressed out and my life just seems too crazy to handle...I clean. I clean my house(every single room), sometimes for hours at a time but it makes me feel better at the end....like everything's in control again.
Is that a weird thing to do??
I was talking with my sister and she remembers me being like 2 years old, barely able to walk and cleaning a smudge off of a mirror...

I'm really not a complete neat freak either...it doesn't always have to be clean...

I could think of worse things to do with your stress and anxiety. I think you're okay.
Now, if you're obsessing over cleanliness (meaning legitimately bothered) daily or almost every day, as well as spending excessive amounts of time cleaning to relieve the anxiety of those obsessions, I'd say get checked out because I'd be worried about Obsessive-Compulsive Disorder.
It doesn't sound that bad. But if you're spending hours re-cleaning things that don't need to be cleaned, I'd say you're wasting time, at the very least, and some talk therapy might reveal some different ways to try handling those feelings.

Not really. Maybe a little bit, but I do the same thing. For me, when ever my life is out of my control I take something I can control. I think of my houes like my life, but when my life is messy I can't always clean it up, but my house I can. Not only that, but I can see my house become clean before my eyes, and it feels so much better when everthing is in it's place. I did it, and no can stop me.

No, this is not weird at all, in fact I find myself doing the same thing to ease stress and it really can help your nerves. When I am not at work I think alot and if I am not doing something then I go crazy. Anxiety will get the best of you if you let it. I thnk what you are doing is good and completely normal.

Whatever gives you comfort. When I am stressed out and things seem crazy I just want to sleep all the time and wish I had the money to hire out molly maids. I think that's highly admirable. At least you did something practical.

I don't think that's weird. I always feel so much better when my house is clean! Even if it IS weird, it's much better than what a lot of people do to relieve stress!

I don't know what kind of stress you're talking about but I think it's great you have a good way of letting your stress out in a good constructive way .some people eat or cry or scream but you found a way that would help you in different ways.
No you're not weired you just found a way to release your fume.I wish we all can find our ways to.

i'd have to say that its a very harmless way of dealing with stress. you ask if its weird, but i think you should be more worried about if its damaging. since this is only helpful (keeps your house clean), it really probably isn't a problem.
if it really worries you, you could ask a psychologist or counselor.
