This trailer absolutely frightened me as a child and now I would like to see the movie. I believe the woman was carrying a candle, and the hands pulled her through a hole at the base of a wall. I would love to see the movie now.

...I cannot believe that someone else actually remembers that movie!!!

You're talking about one of the more thrilling, suspenseful, and yet underappreciate slasher films to come out of that era of horror films, namely the 1980 shocker, "The Silent Scream", which starred Cameron Mitchell, Avery Schrieber, Yvonne DeCarlo, a psychotic turn by veteran scream queen Barbara Steele, and the first feature film starring the beautiful and sexy Rebecca Balding, who prior to this film, starred in the ABC T.V. series, "Soap", as a legal assistant, who falls in love with Billy Crystal's gay character, Jodie.

...although the film itself is wholly memerable (I don't even consider it a 'slasher film', at least not in the same meld as, say "Friday the 13th", and such), I remember what drew me to the theatre, was definitely the compelling and nail-bitingly suspenseful trailer; Rebecca Balding's character, dressed in nothing but a nightgown, and carrying a single candle, was cautiously and curiously walking up a stairway...in a secret passage behind the walls of a beach-front cliffside house. Eventually, she reaches the attic level, where she finds a well-lit-fron-the-other-side, broken-though hole in the wall; as she gets closer, she sees a bloody rag/cloth...and cautiously she reaches into the hole to grab it...and is suddenly & viciously grabbed by someone, who proceeds to pull her through the hole, while she kicks, screams and struggles in absolute terror!!!

...I trust that this strikes a memorable cord; the film has been on my DVD want list for years, and I've virtually worn out the Media Home Entertainment VHS tape I purchase, years ago...

...regrettably, the DVD has yet to come to make it's way onto the shelves...and I continue to be restlessly patient!!!
