In MS Access, I want to restrict entry of text into a field. I've provided limits via a dropdown listbox I created. So I only want any one of those values as possibilities to fill that field for any new records created. The problem is that currently I can enter any text I want by simply ignoring the drop down text values I've populated in the list box. Can I lock the field so only those drop down text values I've created can be selected? If so, how please? Thank you!

Sorry, i should have mentioned, CS, that i am using the home/student version of MS Access 2007 and I do click the properties tab but do not see a data tab. Can you help some more, by any chance? Thank you?

Usually what I do for drop down/combo boxes is link the entries to a separate table.
That way if you don't provide the choices within the table they would be there and they update throughout. Use this with the limit option and you should be on your way

In Design View, select the field you are talking about. Go into the "Properties" Screen". On the "Data" tab, change "Limit To List" to 'yes'.

That should work ...
