How could evolution be disproved, if at all?
Is this not imperative for a theory to be considered viable?

certainly it can be proved wrong. We could find that genetics is totally false. Mendel could be completely incorrect, we could find that DNA does not exist.

We could find that natural selection is false. There might be no variation within any species.

We could find that our big mistake is the fossil record, perhaps a rethinking on the science of paleontology. If we were to find that the earth does not lay down layers.....

you mistake the word theory as many who dislike the science do. Its been thought through.

But now go back in time to when the theory was first posed.... my ideas that seem silly, were exaclty the things they struggled with.

Your question exposes your bias.

If some species had left-handed DNA and some right-handed, that would demolish evolution. This seems not the case.

If some species were found out of place in the fossil record (as mentioned above ... a rabbit in the Cambrian layers) that would disprove evolution. Hasn't happened.

If DNA commonalities were random, rather than showing clear patterns, that would disprove evolution. Hasn't happened.

If organisms showed no signs at all of past ancestry in their morphology ... no vestigial structures, never any atavisms, that would open a big hole in evolution. But such signs abound.

If we were to find kangaroo fossils in the wrong part of the world, that would throw evolution for a loop. Hasn't happened.

But most of all ... all of genetics, including the discovery of DNA, was discovered *after* Darwin proposed his theory. These could have disproved evolution in dozens of different ways ... but genetics and DNA have instead corroborated evolution with every new discovery.

It is precisely *because* there are so many predictions made by evolution ... so many ways it could have been disproved in the last 150 years, that it is considered one of the strongest theories in the history of science.

The basic premise of the theory, "All life having evolved from a common ancestor." Cannot be falsified. Evolutionist might back down and say a few single celled animals, spontaneously generated. But they will never admit the fully formed phylum found in the Cambrian explosion, didn't have ancestors that started out as single celled life. The only alternative; Life having started with many kinds "families". Is considered creationism. It cannot be considered by the present materialistic only answers, accepted as science.
There for the answer is no. Darwinian evolution cannot be falsified. It can only continue to evolve. Even if it never comes to the knowledge of the truth!

Do you remember all that stuff they taught in school about an ape becoming an ape man and eventually becoming a man with a briefcase? Well scientist have changed that theory. So now all those text books are just made up lies.

You may wonder how that information got in books if it wasn’t solid proof that Evolution was true…
That is what evolutionist do. They take a theory and try to draw up imaginary pictures and call it fact. Then when new facts come out they say “well we are learning and growing and it’s good that we have NEW evidence”
That’s fine and dandy but don’t take GOD out of school and then stick a bunch of lies in our books instead.

Teach kids the GOD theory
Teach kids the Science theory.

Why are atheist so worried about hearing both sides of the story? Afraid you will loose your faith?

Great websites to check out that disprove evolution and support the God who created us!

Only if you can "disprove" an observed fact.

The theory explaining this observed fact are supported directly or indirectly by millions of peer-reviewed publications in fields as diverse as physical chemistry, astronomy, geology, molecular biology, biochemistry, anatomy, nuclear physics, electrical physics. anthropology, organic chemistry, botany, zoology and probably dozens of other specialist fields.

Few of these publications relate to evolution specifically, but I have never heard of any of these publications uncovering facts that "disprove" current theories of evolution. If there was such material uncovered, we would all hear of it if it were reliable. While some might have the opinion that things are irreducibly complex, that is an opinion, not a fact.

evolution is just another word for gradual adaptation to your surroundings. such as a giraffes neck grows taller over the hundreds of years its been on this planet to reach taller and taller branches. People in different parts of the world look different because of where they are in the world. the closer you are the equator the darker skinned you are. Now religions point of view can be validated by science to an extent based on the laws of physics for cause and affect for every action there must be a force that is equally charged or pushed for a reaction. Something to that extent. (sorry very tired right now). Now the bible was inverted by several different scriptures and was combined with only 12 out of the possible 30 verses they have discovered. and it has been converted over and over again and rewritten by humans which could very well have the telephone game in place so there's a reason to suspect its not all there. When archaeologists discovered remains of the caveman their skulls where significantly bigger then ours easily proving that evolution cannot be disproved by any creation theory. God, monkeys, ...aliens which I read about recently.

there seems to be a fundamental lack of understanding of the term theory for example the germ theory of disease. this is a working model of how some dieases are associated (necessary but not sufficient in some cases) with the presence of a particular microorganism yet nobody (sane that is) these days would still say that these diseases were caused by bad smells or immoral behaviour

as for evolution there is unequivical evidence to support this theory just ask someone who has picked up a multidrug resistant microbial infection during a stay at hospital

> Can evolution be disproved?
No.

> How could evolution be disproved, if at all?
It can't, if you're referring to observable microevolution and intermediate evolution. These things are science fact.
If you're referring to macroevolution, there are two ways it could be disproved:
a) Intelligent being(s) come down and provide good unmistakable data and evidence that they've interfered in biological processes periodically throughout the Earth's past, four billion years.
b) We invent time machines that can make good observations of Earth's past four billion years, and find unexpected intelligent being(s) making adjustments to Earth's life periodically.

Evolution has many flaws in its theory. If one looks at the universe........If the sun was a bit closer we would fry and a bit further we would freeze. The air we breathe is just the right mixture. The moon is just the right distance away from earth. There are hundreds of these examples of perfection, just look at yourself in the mirror and think about the complexity of the human body, let alone the universe out there.

There are many websites which scientifically and mathematically proove the creation theory and I would tend to go along with creation, rather than old bones .

Evolution, like all ideas that prove to be both a fact and a theory (e.i., gravity), can be disproved. All it takes is new information that demonstrates gene mutations do not lead to genomic and phenotype change.

So far, no one has provided a scientifically viable alternative to the fact of evolution of species.
