It depends on what you like to do, there are MANY jobs you can do, but you'll be successful if it's something you enjoy doing.

My son's friend enjoys drawing and graphics... he earns some very good money making avatars for people on MySpace.

My son enjoys writing, he writes articles for Associated Content. He's currently working on an eBook to sell online.

There are also many other places to write articles for pay on the internet, if you enjoy writing.

Babysitting is always a good option.

GPT (get paid to) sites are a great way to earn money and they're free to join. Most do require that you be 18, but CashCrate, one of the highest paying GPT sites only requires you to be 13.

How about making niche websites? You can monotize them with adsense. Google adsense does not give accounts to 17 year olds, but you can have a parent set up an account.

Start your own business. I wrote my own newspaper and sold it in my town when I was growing up. If you're starting your own business, you can do pretty much anything. Think about things you like and things you are good at, and somewhere in there you will find something people will pay you to do or make.

Two books to check out (they say they're for kids, but I honestly believe they really should be for teens, many of the ideas are pretty sophisticated):
Fast Cash for Kids
Better Than a Lemonade Stand

When I was a teenager, I could set my own prices babysitting. I had parents begging and paying out the nose for me to watch their kids. I honestly put myself through college babysitting. I had two churches I babysat for, one on Wed, and another on Sundays. Dating came after the babysitting job was done. If you like kids, it's pretty good money. Apply at wealthy churches to watch their nursery, the parents pay better when you babysit for them on the side.

Fast food, or things like lawn care. If you have skills in a particular area, you might find ideas there also.

Good luck.
