1. Perceived as an undervalued.
2. Offer superb growth if the management is commited (but normally business will only take off after 2-3 years IPO).
3. Cheap in price, so you can own many units with variety of trading game plan.

Two reasons.
1. You want to speculate on what is called an IPO jump. IPOs tend to jump in price after the first day. The problem is that a subscription is usually sold out before the stock is listed. A broker may offer IPO stocks to bigger customers, but usually not the averege joes.
2. You like the company and like any other stock you think it is a good long term investment.
