No such title. I'd say HR "Leader" because it fits better. Alex Rodriguez may become the next HR leader if Ken Griffey does not catch up.

Arod is the youngest player to get 500 HRs so barring an injury he looks lke a good candidate.

A-Rod has averaged 39 HR / year, and is in 13th year of his career. At that pace, he'd break Hank Aaron's mark in his 19th year... 2013.

Pujoles has averaged 45 HR / year, currently in the 6th year of his contract. At that pace, he'd break Hank Aaron's mark in his 17th year, 2018.

Pujoles has the better chance, given his higher current pace, but A-Rod is more than half-way there already, and currently plays on a team where he has immense plate protection, minimizing the intentional walks that have plagued Bonds and will plague Pujoles.

I would think A-Rod but let's think about this, how long do you think A-Rod will stay around if he has so much money that he can retire and second of all, let's look at the health aspect. For a long time, people thought Griffey jr was going to do this but he then got hurt over several seasons

A-rod does he is really younf right now. he has 500+ home runs and he could easliy go 10 more years if nothing bad happens assume he gets 30 home runs in each season an reasonable amount for him that would be 300 more which would put him at 800+ home runs.

Yea, a lot of guys can break the records because the season is much longer than it use to be 30 years ago.
I just wonder if they have better batting averages than some of the old players like Ted Williams. You never hear about the batting averages any more.
