I had a tubal ligation when I had my son 11yrs ago and it was done by c-section. I have missed my period by 4 days, which it is always on time. I have been having symptoms of headaches, cramping, backaches, a little nausea, and sore breast. I have the same symptoms when my period comes on. I also noticed the presence of the montgomery glands this morning and my breasts have started itching. Does this mean that I am pregnant. It has been so long that I have forgotten what it feels like to be pregnant. Can someone please help me?

It's unusual, but certainly possible. Unless your tubes were cauterized, then it's 99.9% not possible. But if they were cut or clamped, there is a small chance. It could be pregnancy or some kind of hormonal imbalance. Are you in your 40s? It could be premenopause. If you were stressed out or traveling around the time of ovulation, it could have made you ovulate later, which would then make your period come later. Without much detail it's hard to say one way or the other.

Rule out the obvious first and take a pregnancy test. If you're 4 days late you will get a pretty accurate result.

If it's positive get to the doctor ASAP because getting pregnant after a tubal ligation puts you at a high risk for an ectopic pregnancy, which is very dangerous.

If it's negative, you may want to go to the doctor anyway and get a blood test to be sure and have him check your hormone levels to see if something is going on.

Good luck.

if your period is late then get the HPT and see what it says. Yes it is possible to get pregnant after the tubal it is just a smaller chance but when you have a tubal and think you might be pregnant it is advised (atleast they told my mom) to tell the Dr so they can determine if a blood test is needed because there is an increase risk of eptopic pregnancy after a tubal.

While it is very rare, women have gotten pregnant after a tubal ligation. If so, this baby was meant to be. Have a test before you assume anything though. No celebrations until the rabbit dies.

It IS possible to get pregnant after a tubal ligation !! My friend (with a *surprise* baby now-22 years old and beautiful) says it's so. I would call my DR, tell them what you said here and ask them to advise.
Good luck !!!

Take a home pregnancy test.

Tubal ligations SOMETIMES fail, but it's quite unlikely.

Whenever an outside force changes something in your body, it will always seek to "repair" it. Your fallopian tubes, after all these years, may have fused together in the places where they were tied, making a space where your egg may have a small chance of passing through. Although there is only a very small chance of pregnancy occuring, it IS possible.

You could be pregnant, there is a slight failure rate for tubals. Or it could be PMS or other hormonal symptoms. Take a home pregnancy test to find out.

I would give it a few more days and see if the symptoms were still present. If they are then go see your doctor.
