I let him pay on the first few dates with my boyfriend of 8 years. Then I would pick up the tip, and after that we sort of split things however we could. Or if he was low on cash, I'd pay for the entire thing. He makes twice as much as I do. When I come into cash, like overtime or hitting a fairly good amount in the lottery, or get a nice tax refund, I am very generous.

When I was single, I'd usually pay my own way, or @ least offer. I'd only pay the whole tab for special occasions, like a guy's b-day or whatever, but those occasions seldom occured on a first date.

I think this is one of my hangups. I always pay my own way. I am a female and I don't want to be indebted to anyone, not do I want to feel like I owe anyone anything.
