It's not cheating. Cheating is changing something in the game towards your favor. A strategy guide just helps in parts that you have trouble in.

I normally dont buy stratagy guides. A while ago i got shrek 2 the game and the stratagy guide for my birthday. I didnt use it much. But when i couldnt find something, or was stuck on something, it came in handy. So id say no its not cheating.

Video games are made for entertainment and enjoyment. If it's more fun for you with a strategy guide then go for it.
