Maybell is pretty and will probably come into fashion since May has made such a come-back lately. Annabell is an old-fashioned name that I haven't heard given any babies. I have a cousin of 70 named Annabell. I think a good compromise might be Abigail and you might want to call her Abby sometimes. Of course you should not let others deter you. I know someone who still regrets not naming her daughter Athena because "Grandma" said it reminded her of a ship and she'd never be able to tell her friends she had a new granddaughter! OMGosh!

Annabel is ok. Maybell on the other hand conjures up two images in my head. The first being make-up (Maybelline) the second is a squirrel. This is because my grandmother called all squirrels mabel. You probably don't have to worry about the squirrel thing, although I'm not sure of the source of maybel the squirrel. It may be a really old character or something.

i can tell you my grandma had a dog named annabell and i have a hard time thinking of that in any other way but i know when my mom was growing up her name is Ann and they called her annabell. Maybell atleast doesn't have any animal connection for me but I think with either name the girl may get made fun of because they are from a different generation and not popular now

I like those names. If you want, you can vary them to make them more modern sounding.
Maybell - Mable
Annabell - Annabelle - Anabell -Anabelle
Arabelle is also a pretty name.
Also they are not "Hick Southern" names. I've lived all over the south and I've never met someone named Annabell or Maybell.

I don't care for Maybell at all and Annabell is ok but the whole Belle thing is kinda trendy right now.

I think Annabell is cute but not Maybell- for some reason that reminds me of an old lady. But use whatever will make you happy...you are the mom!

Maybell sounds a bit hickish and annabell I dont mind so much, but do you call her Anna or Belle for short? But either is old fashioned but at least annabell sounds sweeter.

I don't care much for Maybell, sorry. I prefer just May. Or how about something more exotic, like Marybell / Maribelle. That would be cute.
Annabell is a beautiful name, though. It reminds me of "Annabel Lee" by Edgar Allen Poe.

Maybell....maybe. Annabelle makes me think of the large, pink girlfriend on the cartoon show "Eek! the Cat."
